It is a huge honour to be elected as the MP for Wycombe, the first Labour MP here since 1951. I would like to thank all those who voted in the general election and I promise to represent all my constituents to the best of my ability.
For our local area, I will campaign for good local public services, policies that tackle our climate emergency, an affordable, warm, decent home for local families in an area where they feel safe and every child growing up here to fulfil their potential, with good schools and teachers nurturing their interests.
The last Labour government transformed the NHS, brought down waiting times and delivered record levels of satisfaction. This Labour government will rebuild our NHS so that it doesn’t leave people stranded, waiting hours for an ambulance or waiting too long for a standard operation.
It is a huge privilege to be appointed by the Prime Minister to serve as the new Pensions Minister, working across the Treasury and the Department of Work and Pensions. I am leading a Pensions Review to ensure better retirement incomes for future pensioners. However, I want to reassure my constituents that, despite my Ministerial role, you will continue to be my priority.
