In February 2025, I met with Chiltern Railways Managing Director Richard Allan to discuss the company’s ambitious plans to improve passenger experience across its network.
During the meeting, I conveyed concerns raised by residents regarding service standards, while expressing support for the provider’s forward-looking proposals. Since then, I’ve made formal representations to Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander, in support of their plans.
After many months of discussion, Chiltern Railways has now been able to announce upgrades to its fleet. It will replace its 47-year-old carriages with 13 brand-new trains featuring enhanced customer facilities. The upgraded fleet is set to serve the busy London–West Midlands route from early 2026, marking a significant step forward for commuters and communities alike.

I am pleased to see Chiltern Railways responding to the concerns of passengers and making real improvements to their service. These new trains will make a meaningful difference to the comfort and reliability of journeys on this vital route.
As a regular commuter from High Wycombe station myself, I know this news will be welcome to many.
I am glad to have been able to work with Chiltern Railways to improve services for local people.
