Seeleys saved after local campaign

I am pleased to see Buckinghamshire Council’s recommendations for the retainment of support services at Seeleys House Short Breaks and Overnight Respite Centre following their consultation on adult day and respite services.

From my visit to Seeleys House earlier this year and my support for the campaign against the service closure I understand how vital this service is to families across the county, and I’m sure it will be of great relief to them following the period of anxiety and distress around the proposed closures.

I am also pleased to hear of the Council’s proposals for an additional specialist overnight respite facility in Aylesbury, upgrades to facilities at all retained Council-owned centres, and a new dedicated learning disabilities team in adult social care to enhance specialist support.

I share the concerns of the families accessing other Council-run services recommended for closure including Hillcrest Day Centre and Burnham Day Centre. I have asked that the Council prioritise the needs and support for service users and families of these facilities in the event of their closure.
