I was delighted to accompany Alan Siggins, Managing Director of local business Airflow, to a reception for SMEs from the South East region last night held in Number 11 Downing Street. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, was delighted to welcome a variety of businesses from across the region into Downing Street. The reception was an opportunity for Airflow, based in High Wycombe, to speak directly to the Chancellor who is currently preparing to deliver the Budget later this Autumn.
Businesses like Airflow are so valuable to the local economy here in Wycombe, employing local people and serving our community with pride. This Government knows how important SMEs are to Wycombe and the country, which is why it was brilliant to take the experiences and thoughts of our local businesses from Wycombe directly to the Chancellor ahead of the Budget this Autumn. ”
Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer said:
We are a pro-business government, and we know that SMEs are the beating heart of high streets, industrial estates and local economies across the country.
That’s why we’re reforming business rates, have secured trade deals with the US, EU and India to boost exports of whisky, gin and other British products, and have seen interest rates cut five times since the election, benefiting businesses in every part of Britain.
Alan Siggins, Managing Director of Airflow said:
It was great to connect with Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves and MP Emma Reynolds as well as other professionals at No 11 ahead of the Autumn Budget Announcement
The exchanging of experiences and insightful discussion around the challenges faced by similar SME’s gave a reminder of the importance of continued dialogue between policymakers and SMEs to ensure that future policy decisions support innovation and business resilience.
