One Can Trust held a Volunteer Thank You event last weekend in High Wycombe, where over 100 of the dedicated volunteers and staff were celebrated for their incredible contribution to the local community.
It was an honour to join this event to recognise the tireless efforts of their volunteers. Their commitment ensures that families across our area receive vital support during challenging times. The scale of their work—made possible by over 400 volunteers—is truly inspiring and a testament to the power of community spirit.
One Can Trust’s school meals programme has fed back data to the Department for Education to help shape national policy, providing valuable data that informed the Government’s recent decision to roll out free breakfast clubs and expand free school meal provision— changes that will benefit thousands of children across the country, including many here in Wycombe.
The One Can Trust is a lifeline for many households, and its success depends on the generosity and hard work of volunteers who give their time to sort, pack, and deliver food parcels, make calls to clients, support the growing clothes banks for both children and adults and the regular supermarket food drives all over South Buckinghamshire. The event was a chance to thank them for their dedication and celebrate the positive impact they make every day.
Sonya Batchelor, One Can Trust Interim CEO said:
As a small charity we are so proud of what we have achieved – from helping weekly ensure over 500 families are warm and fed, to informing National policy. That we have been able to leverage our data to help children beyond our community is an illustration of how we influence change beyond our area. We may be a charity based in Wycombe and surrounds but we have far greater reach. With a 400 strong front line volunteer family – we are here to serve as long as there is a need and we could not do it without them and our wider partnership from the council to broader stakeholders.
