Along with Buckinghamshire’s other Labour MPs, I met with farmers and rural business owners to discuss the challenges facing British agriculture and how Labour’s plan will deliver a stronger future for farming.
After 14 years of Conservative failure that left farmers undercut in trade deals, facing soaring costs, and struggling with uncertainty, the Labour government will deliver fairness, stability, and growth for rural Britain. The government has already delivered for British farms:
- Establishing a Farming and Food Partnership Board to unite voices across the supply chain
- Launching a £30m Farmer Collaboration Fund to boost productivity and co-operation
- Driving planning reforms so farmers can invest and diversify
- Stepping up action on supply chain fairness, including continued scrutiny of unfair practices
- Securing new export wins
The roundtable was held at Adstockfields Farm in Buckingham, bringing together more than 20 farmers from across Buckinghamshire to exchange insights and share their perspectives. This roundtable built on previous constituency-level conversations held by all three MPs on how farmers can be better supported in rural Buckinghamshire.
Across arable, livestock, horticulture and mixed enterprises, farmers are clear that to become more profitable, productive and resilient they need clarity and certainty from Government, and Labour is working to deliver just that. Working in partnership, Labour is working hard to deliver a profitable, productive and resilient agricultural sector.
Labour is backing British farming with the tools, investment, and confidence needed to thrive. We’re building real partnership with the sector by putting farmers at the heart of decision-making and building a system that works for rural communities.
This MP roundtable is one of many happening across the country, reflecting how important it is that we keep listening to and engaging in open, honest conversations with our rural communities.
It was great to meet farmers from across Buckinghamshire and hearing firsthand about the issues that matter most to them.
