I welcome the announcement today from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust regarding their submission of plans for a landmark new building at the Wycombe Hospital site. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with the aim of welcoming the first patients into the new Endoscopy Department by Spring 2027.
When I met with the outgoing CEO of the Trust, Neil Macdonald, last November, we discussed these plans. I am delighted that the new CEO, Raghuv Bhasin, is now taking them forward with Buckinghamshire Council. I look forward to meeting Mr Bhasin next month to hear more about the project.
The Trust shared with me today: “The proposed £20 million, six-storey building is designed to provide a modern, welcoming space for patients and staff alike, and will ultimately enable the relocation of core services from the current Wycombe Tower Block, which is unfit for long-term use.”
Throughout my election campaign and my first year as the MP for Wycombe, I have been clear that we must not lose any services from Wycombe Hospital. Today’s announcement is fantastic news for the people of Wycombe.
The Trust will also be holding an in-person public engagement session on 14 October, from 6–8pm in the Marlow Room, Wycombe Hospital Education Centre. All are welcome to attend. The project team will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the plans with the local community.
