Ramadan message from the Prime Minister

Ramadan message from the Prime Minister

Dear All,

As Ramadan begins, I want to extend my warmest wishes to Muslims in the United Kingdom and around the world.

In this holy month of fasting and reflection, I trust that you will experience the spiritual renewal associated with this time.

I believe Britain is stronger as a tolerant, decent and respectful country. This Government is choosing the path of unity in the face of division. It is the bringing of our communities together around the common good which gives me hope for the future of our nation. As you focus on compassion, generosity, gratitude and unity, I want to extend my thanks for your contribution to our national life.

British Muslims are an intrinsic part of British society, and the celebration of Ramadan in our communities is an excellent example of the open, inclusive society we have built in Britain. The emphasis on giving to charity by Muslims all year round – but in particular during Ramadan – is felt across our country.

Up and down the country, mosques, community centres and indeed other places of worship will open their doors, welcoming people from all faiths and none around the table for iftar, to share the spirit of Ramadan. I hope that this will be an opportunity for greater connection across our communities.

I wish you and your loved ones peace, joy, fulfilment and a truly blessed

Ramadan.

Ramadan Mubarak!

Rt Hon. Keir Starmer KC MP

Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party
