The unique challenges of rural businesses

Rural challenges don’t always fit into neat departmental boxes. That is why this government has made a commitment that all policy decision-making should be rural proofed.

I met with local rural businesses to hear directly from them the challenges they face and how as their local MP I can support them. The discussion, organised by Buckinghamshire Business First, was hosted at The Barn Café in rural Turville. Farmers and local business owners came together to share ideas and explore ways to overcome these challenges and strengthen the rural economy.

We discussed a wide range of topics from planning reform and digital connectivity, to better local transport and flood defences. When rural communities succeed the whole country succeeds.
