Visit to Bowerdean Nursery as we launch £200m SEND training programme

It was a pleasure to welcome Olivia Bailey MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Early Education, to Bowerdean Nursery in Wycombe.

Bowerdean holds a Centre of Excellence Award for Inclusion, and we had a great time chatting to the SEND children and specialist staff who use their innovative White Room and Sensory Room.

Today, we’re launching a landmark £200m SEND training programme to ensure that every teacher in every school can give the children they work with the right support at the right time. As we heard from staff at Bowerdean, early intervention in our classrooms can be crucial in ensuring that children access the education they deserve, but for too long, training on SEND has been inconsistent.

This is the most ambitious and comprehensive SEND training offer ever seen in England. It’s an investment we’re proud to be making.
