Last week, I was delighted to join HRH The Prince of Wales, Prince William, and other distinguished guests at Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall.
Sir David is one of the greatest champions for nature and our planet the world has ever known — a national treasure whose work has inspired generations across the globe.
It was a very special evening and a real honour to represent HM Government in my role as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
My two young boys were especially jealous that their mum was getting to meet one of their favourite TV stars. Like so many families across Wycombe, Sir David’s programmes have helped inspire their curiosity, sense of adventure, and love of animals and the natural world.
One of the highlights of the evening was passing on a hand-drawn birthday card from my sons to one of their heroes, complete with illustrations of their favourite animals.
