Vincentian Exhibition for Black History Month

Vincentian Exhibition for Black History Month

During Black History Month, it is important to celebrate the amazing contribution of Wycombe’s black community.

I enjoyed meeting Estelle Williams MBE and former mayor Sebert Graham at the Vincentian Exhibition at All Saints Parish Church.

Estelle came to Wycombe from St Vincents and the Grenadines alone at the age of 18 to train as a nurse. She was later awarded the MBE by Queen Elizabeth II for her pioneering work with the Caribbean Elderly Hairoun Day Centre.

Estelle told us

Thanks to Father Anthony and All Saints Parish Church for the privilege of sharing Black History Month with the people of High Wycombe. It was a great opportunity to meet our MP and to recognise the huge contribution of the African Caribbean community.
