I was impressed by the dedication of the staff at Wycombe Women’s Aid to providing a huge range of specialist services, including refuge accommodation, children’s services and community-based outreach support.
The Government has pledged to halve violence against women and girls and is investing £550 million in victim support services. I will fight to ensure that our community gets its fair share of this funding so that Wycombe Women’s Aid can do even more to help vulnerable women and children.

Every day, we support women whose experiences of abuse are complex, individual, and often hidden. There is no single route to safety or recovery, which is why specialist support matters so much.
At Wycombe Women’s Aid, we see first-hand the difference that the right support can make. Specialist services give women the time, expertise, and trusted relationships they need to understand their options, make informed choices and rebuild their lives in a way that is right for them. They also help ensure children receive the safety, care and support they need.
Visits like this are important because they raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and encourage more open conversations about domestic abuse. The more people understand what women, children and families are facing, the better able we are as a community to recognise abuse, respond safely and make sure those affected can access the support they need.”
