I know many constituents are concerned about the future of Wycombe hospital. During my last meeting with the CEO of Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust, Neil Macdonald, I was encouraged to hear about their plans to develop the hospital. I am glad I am now able to share further details about those plans.
What do these plans look like?
- A phased approach to moving services to a new building.
- These phases will be determined as and when funding becomes available.
- The first stage will be to complete preparatory work before starting on detailed designs.
I have offered my steadfast support. We must not lose any additional services from our hospital.
A spokesperson from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust said:
We are committed to the redevelopment of Wycombe Hospital.
It looks very unlikely that Wycombe will be included in the New Hospital Programme, so we are looking at alternative ways of delivering the changes that are so desperately needed.
This will probably mean that any new building to replace the Tower will need to be constructed in a phased way, as and when funding becomes available. The first stage will be to complete preparatory work, including things like ground investigations and utilities, before starting on detailed designs to allow us to gain financial approval to proceed in late 2026.
In the meantime, we are continuing to undertake essential maintenance work to ensure the safety of our patients and our colleagues. We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we continue to do our best to deliver outstanding care in an environment that we know is less than ideal.”
