During Respect for Shop Workers Week, I was pleased to meet staff at Tesco’s Loudwater store. We discussed planning for Christmas, Tesco’s excellent pension arrangements, retail crime and abuse of shop workers.
In the King’s Speech, the government set out plans to make an assault on a shopworker a specific offence. The government’s plan to repeal the £200 threshold for the offence of low-value shoplifting shows its commitment to retail businesses.
I was delighted to meet Bev who has worked for Tesco since 1989! I was also interested to hear about how Tesco are working with charities, including the One Can Trust, Wycombe Food Hub, The Trussell Trust and FareShare, to support those on low incomes.
