Road Safety – An update

Road Safety – An update

I welcome the government’s road safety strategy which aims to reduce the number of children killed or seriously injured on roads by 70% by 2035, compared to 2022-4 levels.

Hundreds of parents, carers and local residents have contacted me with concerns about road safety around John Hampden Grammar School, St Michael’s Catholic School and Wycombe High School.

I have been working closely with the headteachers, local councillors and Thames Valley Police to press Buckinghamshire Council to take action. While we have made some progress – as outlined in my letter  below – there is still a long way to go.

Buckinghamshire Council needs to modernise its approach to road safety outside schools and do more to protect vulnerable road users.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their experiences and concerns. I will continue pushing for the changes our community wants to see.
