Visit to Seeleys House

I recently visited Seeleys House Short Breaks and Overnight Respite Centre alongside Sarah Green, MP for Chesham and Amersham. I was very impressed by the high standard of care provided by the staff at Seeleys House, as well as the excellent facilities and activities available to support service users.

I have spoken with a number of residents and families in Wycombe who access the Adult Social Care day and overnight respite services in Buckinghamshire. They have expressed significant concerns at Buckinghamshire Council’s proposed changes to the services which includes the potential closures of Seeleys House, the only Council-run overnight respite service in Buckinghamshire, as well as other day centre sites in the county.

Following my visit to Seeleys House, I have written to Buckinghamshire Council with the following:

  • To share my experiences of the visit to Seeleys House and my concerns about the impact of the potential closures of these services.
  • To urge them to carefully consider the experiences, concerns and recommendations of the families and carers of service users from their recent consultation process.
  • To ask them to ensure that the care and needs of those who rely on the services are prioritised in all decisions.

I will provide an update when I am able to
